Shoonya Mudra (Mudra Of Emptiness)

 Shoonya Mudra

Is a simple yoga gesture designed to reduce the space element (akasha) in the body? It is an hasta (hand) mudra and one of a series of therapeutic mudras believed to have healing properties. In this mudra, the tip of the middle finger is placed at the base of the thumb and the thumb gently presses on the middle finger just below the knuckle. The other three fingers stretch comfortably to the sky. The name of this mudra comes from Sanskrit shunya, which means 'emptiness', 'openness' or 'space', and mudra, which means 'gesture' or 'seal'. Shunya can also refer to the sky or heaven. As such, shunya mudra can be translated as 'heaven mudra'.

Shoonya Mudra Steps:-
  • First, sit in a comfortable sitting position and place the hands with the palm facing up on the thighs or knees.
  • Meditation poses such as Padmasana, Siddhasana, Swastikasana, Vajrasana, etc. are ideal for practicing mudras.
  • Close your eyes and take a deep breath with the awareness of the breathing process.
  • Now fold your middle finger and press it with your thumb. You may feel some pain. But it doesn't take long.
  • The rest of all fingers should be kept stretched as much as possible.
  • In addition, it must be done with both hands at the same time.
  • Perform this pose for 35 minutes at a time or 10 to 12 minutes three times a day.

Specialty:-
This mudra is associated with the Ayurvedic Vata dosha. Therefore, Shunya mudra can be useful for people who suffer from aggravated Vata dosha. And the dosha associated with the nervous system and waste removal. Heaven mudra stimulates the heart chakra, which regulates communication, self-expression, truth, and purification.

Time Duration:-
No particular time duration for the mudra. Of course, All mudra is very effective when you do the mudras between 4-6 AM. You can do this mudra three times a day for 15 minutes. To an excellent, the best, and efficient results, make sure you practice regularly for two months.

Precaution:-
  • Sun pose should not be done when there is a weakness in the body.
  • Do not do this mudra immediately before or after having food, sitting in a posture, and concentrating on doing Sunhya mudra is more beneficial.
